I came to Prince Rupert to raise my family and to give my husband an opportunity to teach as a teacher on call. We have resided here since 2006 and consider Prince Rupert our home.

Our son, Sam, is a primary student at Pineridge Elementary. Over the past 3 years, I have been an active member of his school, participating on the executive for the Parent Advisory Council as well as part of the School planning committee. I have also volunteered my time professionally as an Occupational Therapist, to assist the school therapist in running programs within the schools. I have observed first hand the important link between school and home in fostering successful leaners. I have also seen the dedicated group of individuals we have working with our children. I have worked with other parents and school staff, to create a welcoming, safe learning environment within the school. We just hosted a very successful family night with 139 people in attendance.

I am a university trained Occupational Therapist and am currently employed by Northern Health. During my time in my current position, I have successfully secured additional funding and grants to design and implement a Falls Harm Reduction program into residential care and am now working on extending this program across the continuum of care in Prince Rupert. I have experience working with a diverse range of people toward a common goal. My training and experience have taught me the importance of collaboration when addressing complex issues.

I have sat on the board of the College of Occupational Therapists of BC and am the current chairperson for the Quality Assurance Committee. This commitee has just completed the design of an online learning module for Occupational Therapists in BC.

I am a member of the Health Sciences Association Union. I am currently a union steward and have acted as the Occupational Health and Safety steward in past years.

I have a strong comittment to safety and advocacy. Our children need safe schools to learn in. If elected, my focus as a school trustee will be finding local solutions and advocating for provincial changes to support our schools. I am fully committed to being available to families, students and other stakeholders as we are all in this together. I am not afraid to speak up when needed.

Thank-you for your support on November 19th. I encourage everyone to come out and vote—be part of the solution!

Regards,

Tanya Boudier
